how do i find you?

We are located at 101B Winifred Ave in the heart of Whangamata township off Port Road (the old Surfsup building behind Whanga Bar).

where can i park?

We have parking right outside the front of the studio. Access the parking from Winifred Ave - Head down the service lane, you will see our sign on the fence.

do you take walk in's?

We are a drop in studio, so walk in's are welcome. Be mindful that our weekends and Summer season can often get busy, so to secure yourself a spot in the studio, we do recommend booking online or simply drop us an email, Facebook or Instagram message to let us know you will be coming. Prepaid online bookings do get priority over walk in's.

can i pay at the studio or do i have to book online?

Our studio accepts cash and eftpos, no credit cards sorry!

how do i book a class?

You can book a class via our website timetable, simply choose a class you want to attend, click 'sign up' and follow the prompts. Alternatively you can download the MindBody app, look us up and book via the app. If you book and pay online then find you cant make the class, dont worry, just cancel the class that same way you booked, or drop us a line and we can cancel it at our end. 

The class will only be charged if you fail to cancel to a fully booked out class and the teacher had to turn a walk-in away due to capacity.

what do i need to know for my first class?

Arrive 15 minutes before class so we can show you around the studio, check-in, set your mat up and get settled. Also please let the teacher know before class starts, if you have any injuries or concerns.

what do i wear?

Come in comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely without having to adjust too much. No fancy yoga pants or tights are required, just something breathable or with a little stretch always works best.

DO i need a yoga mat?

We can provide you with a yoga mat inthe studio, all our yoga mats and props are available to use FREE of charge.

I am a beginner, is that ok?

Of course, all our classes (except for Flow L2), is accessibale to beginners. We provide modifications and variations to postures throughout our classes. When you start, look to set your mat up towards the middle or back of the room, that way you can follow other students around you. We recommend starting with our Chill or Yin class, then moving onto our Slow Flow. We also hold 4 week Beginners series every few months, involving a breakdown of postures, breathing exerices and an awesome opportunity to ask any questions you may not have the chance to in a class.

I am pregnant, can i still practice?

Everyones pregnancy is a little different. Consult your midwife or doctor then drop a us a message to discuss.

Do i eat before a class?

Try to avoid eating a big meal before class, as yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. If you find you're really hungry before a class, opt for a small snack, such as a piece of fruit.

What is the studio etiquette?

We are pretty laid back bunch at The Drift, we do just ask that you follow the below guidelines.

Please turn your phone to silent, our reception area shares the same space as our practice space so a beep/ring/vibration will be heard.

Please remove your shoes at the reception area.

We start class at the advertised time, please arrive at least 10 -5 mins before a class.

If you have booked online and can not make the class, please cancel your booking or let us know so we can cancel it at our end.

We encourage a social community, so feel free to chat quietly with your neighbour prior to class starting.

We do have limited studio space, so if we have a full class, please extend the yoga love by making room for your fellow yogi.
