HOW DO I FIND YOU? 

We are located in the heart of Whangamata town, 101 Winifred Ave. Head down the service lane off Winifred Ave and you will find us (Behind Whanga Bar).

WHERE CAN I PARK?

We have parking right outside the front of the studio. Access the parking from Winifred Ave - Head down the service lane, you will see our sign on the fence.

WHAT ARE THE COST OF THE CLASSES?

DO YOU TAKE WALK IN'S?

We are a drop-in studio, so walk in's are welcome, our studio accepts cash and eftpos, no credit cards sorry! Be mindful that our Summer season can often get busy, so to secure yourself a spot in the studio, we do recommend booking online. Prepaid online bookings do get priority over walk in's.

HOW DO I BOOK A CLASS?

You can book a class via our website timetable, simply choose a class you want to attend, click 'sign up' and follow the prompts (create an account, user name and password). Alternatively, you can download the MindBody app, look us up and book via the app.

 

HOW DO I CANCEL A CLASS?

If you book and pay online then find you can't make the class, don't worry, just cancel the class that same way you booked or drop us a line and we can cancel it at our end. The class will only be charged if you fail to cancel to a fully booked class and the teacher had to turn other yogi's away due to capacity.

 

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO ATTEND A STUDIO CLASS?

Our studio classes are aimed toward adults and older teens and have a minmum age requirement of 16 years old, however we run kids yoga (ages 7-11yrs) and teens yoga (12-15yrs) during the school term, and offer yoga workshops throughout the school holidays - Check out our Workshops and Events page for upcoming dates.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

Arrive at least 10 minutes before class so we can show you around the studio, check-in, set your mat up and get settled. Also please let the teacher know before class starts, if you have any injuries or concerns.

WHAT DO I WEAR

Come in comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely without having to adjust too much. No fancy yoga pants or tights are required, just something with a little stretch always works best. No shoes are required as yoga is practiced best barefoot. We have toilet facilities if you need to change before or after a class.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? DO I NEED A YOGA MAT?

The studio has everything you need for your first class, we provide yoga mats free of charge, however feel free to bring your own.

I AM A BEGINNER, IS THAT OK?

Of course, we suggest a few Chill classes to begin with, our teachers will work with you to provide modifications to postures throughout our classes. We also hold a Beginners series every few months, check out our Workshops and Events page to see when our next upcoming beginner series starts.

I AM PREGNANT, CAN I STILL PRACTICE?

Probably, but everyone's pregnancy is a little different. Consult your midwife or doctor then drop a us a message to discuss.

DO I EAT BEFORE A CLASS?

Try to avoid eating a big meal before class, as yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. If you find you're really hungry before a class, opt for a small snack, such as a piece of fruit.

WHAT IS THE STUDIO ETIQUETTE?

We are a pretty laid back bunch at The Drift, we do ask that you follow the below guidelines:

• Turn your phone on silent, our reception shares the same area as our practice space so a beep/ring/vibration will be heard.

• Remove your shoes at the reception area.

• We start class at the advertised time, please arrive at least 10 mins before a class.

• We encourage a social community, so feel free to chat quietly with your neighbour prior to class starting.

• We do have limited studio space, so if we have a full class, please extend the yoga love by making room for your fellow yogi.
